Calibration and thermal mapping: two different questions
The reliability of the measurement and the distribution of conditions in an environment require complementary evaluations.
What does a measurement tell us
A displayed value must be interpreted considering the instrument, the conditions of use and the associated uncertainty. Calibration relates the instrument indications to reference values in defined conditions. It does not automatically equate to an adjustment.
What does a mapping add
A mapping studies how conditions are distributed in space and time. In a refrigerated environment, for example, the location of the measurement points and the operating conditions influence what is observed. The measurement in a single point does not necessarily describe the entire environment.
Plan the activity
Before the intervention it is necessary to define the purpose, the measurement range, the detection points, the duration and the operating conditions. The type of documentation required must also be agreed. Regulatory or accreditation requirements must be verified for the specific case.
From data to decisions
The goal is to make the results usable in the process: evaluate the measures, understand the differences and choose how to monitor. The Novabase team can discuss with you on the perimeter of the activity.
